embracing resilience
"The potential for self-actualization exists in each of us. It is part of our genetic makeup."
-Carl Rogers

NICE TO MEET YOU
I love therapy. I think it’s cool, powerful, and transformative.
I am in awe of our complex human brain, our interconnected body, and the depths of our emotion.

What drives my work is the belief that we have the capacity for positive growth and change. When we work to address the barriers that hinder well-being or empowerment, we create space and flow. This allows for balance and attunement with our mind, body, and spirit.

With support and acceptance, we can face the hard, navigate through the uneasy & find courage, perseverance, and GRIT.
THERAPY THOUGHTS
Talk therapy has well researched benefits that help encourage the integration of (or communication between) various parts of our brain promoting insight, flexibility, growth, and resilience. I'm a fan, no doubt! However, healing and nurturing growth aren't just limited to examining our conscious or logical thoughts. In fact, sometimes we can't access them well. Our experiences and emotions may feel buried deep within the recesses of our mind. However, the "feelings" show up in our body or actions in ways that feel automatic.
Our habits, responses, moods may be deeply wired in our nervous system (body) or regions of our brain that are not purely dictated by logical or analytical processes. To promote deeper healing and growth, I incorporate mindfulness, somatic, and/or experiential practices (in addition to talk therapy) to engage the nervous system. This approach, also called a "bottom up" strategy in therapy, aims to address the sensory and physiological aspects of distress.

MY APPROACH
I recognize the importance of conceptualizing the “whole” person in therapy – mind, body, and spirit. I use an integrative and holistic approach to tailor treatment to my clients' needs. I draw from various evidenced-based practices, such as interpersonal neurobiology, attachment theory, mindfulness, somatic practices, narrative therapy, and internal family systems.

My first priority is to develop a relationship rooted in trust, safety, and acceptance. Otherwise therapy won’t go far. I highly value diversity and have deep respect for everyone’s unique experiences, backgrounds, and stories. I like to understand how my clients may be impacted by external or social factors, such as family, culture, belief systems, discrimination, and work or school.
My approach is warm and collaborative. I partner with my clients while they set their intentions and pace for therapy. Even though I may use specific approaches, therapy is individualized. We will only do what you're comfortable with. For example, if you highly dislike mindfulness, then it's out the door. Safety and comfort are key!

THERAPY FOR
My therapeutic foundation is rooted in studies of chronic stress and complex trauma and the effects on the body and mind. Repeated experiences of high stress whether from unsafe or unhealthy relationships, neglect, bullying, overwhelming work conditions, challenging social experiences, discrimination, family stressors, or childhood abuse or adverse experiences often manifest in a series of symptoms or reactions. These symptoms may present as chronic anxiety or social anxiety, depression, anger, irritability, perfectionism, over-pleasing, low self esteem, or just feeling inadequate or not enough. Change is possible.

MY BACKGROUND
Therapy isn't my first profession. I previously worked in a corporate environment alongside creatives and developers. I found great joy and purpose in nurturing relationships, supporting employees to connect with their strengths while overcoming challenges, and fostering an inclusive work environment. I frequently focused on both my professional and personal growth, which led me to explore leadership, read psychology books, and develop a keen interest in neuroscience. These evolving interests inspired me to pivot my career, and here I am today. The wonderful thing is that you can always change your path and trajectory. I am now a licensed marriage and family therapist in the state of California (LMFT #141345) and a certified breathwork instructor.

I work in both private practice and community mental health, supporting clients from various backgrounds and age groups, including children under five to adults. I assist individuals and families in addressing trauma, anxiety, depression, grief and loss, low self-esteem, chronic stress, relational stressors, behavioral issues, self-harm, suicidal ideation, domestic violence, and life transitions.
In addition to working as a therapist, I am also a Program Coordinator for the Multi-Disciplinary Assessment Team (MAT) for a community mental health agency that contracts with the Los Angeles Department of Mental Health. The Multi-Disciplinary Assessment Team provides comprehensive assessments for children in foster care to promote safety and stability.

I have additional training in mindfulness, breathwork, and Internal Family Systems. I am passionate about understanding what helps us to persevere and move forward. By studying the effects of chronic stress, I have gained insight into what fosters healing and resilience.
